Gendrickson Mena – ‘Asi Son Mis Sentimientos’. Some musicians met themselves in 1998 for the first time, in a jam session. They all came from different experiences, they’re all professional musicians playing on the Italian Jazz Scene since many years but not only that: some of them came from Berklee School in U.S., some other have had past experiences with great international musicians. Since the beginning Gendrickson’s charisma catalyzes the New Cuban Experience band, in 2000. His pieces were original and innovative, it was jazz but characterized by a typical latin rythm and flavour. The live performance impact was tough , through pieces really strong rhythmically, but also through heart touching ballads. On july 2003, after an hard work in recording studio, they have given life to their first CD as a band: Asì son mis sientimentos. The reperoire of this CD includes, beyond Gendrickson’s pieces, one Coltrane’s standard (Giant Steps), rearranged by the Cuban composer. The record ranges over jazz and Afro-Caribbean music with crossovers between funky and fusion, also reaching bossa.
